Replacing a clock during the game to speed the tournament up

My apologies for bringing this ancient (2003) thread to the top. I am considering filing a complaint.
Is the procedure outlined by Mr. Just above still valid, 14 years later?

Thank you!

~MK.

The deposit is now $50. The delegates are no longer the board of directors, so appeals from committee decisions now go to the Executive Board (I think; I’m open to correction on that last point.)

Yep.

Not sure about any statute-of-limitations-type situation, but I’m curious why you’d want to file a complaint this many years later. Is that TD still running tournaments, and is he still substituting clocks to speed things up? Or are you afraid he might do so?

If so, you might have a good reason to bring it up now, but sometimes (not always) it might be better to let bygones be bygones.

Does it require a CPA to note that 2013 was 4 years ago, not 14?

I assumed Mr. Koganov had a complaint about a recent event and cited Mr. Just in asking if the method was still the same. It should be obvious that complaints must be filed in a timely manner.

It doesn’t. I figured it out shortly after I wrote the post, but it was too late to correct, since there were comments made after my post already. With age my vision started to deteriorate and I confused 2013 with 2003.

Thank you for bringing this up and allowing me to admit my error.

Yes, Alex is exactly right. My complaint is about very recent event and I wanted to make sure the procedure outlined by Mr. Just appear to be accurate now. It was a good idea to ask, since a fee apparently increased to $50.00

Inquiring minds want to know: Was it the same TD? Was it the same crime?

Bill Smythe

  1. No 2. No.

As an fyi, with regards to a TD from 2013 event, we are no longer attending his events, so I do not have any issues to report.

Also, boy that desperately tried to win the game back than (and was considered a prodigy), dropped out of rated competition right after this tournament.
