A Warning About Chess Cube

Chess Cube recently had their server go down, (again), and as a result all game histories and statistics were lost. An inquiry to Chess Cube regarding this situation had an official response that claimed all game histories and statistics would be restored in, “1-2 weeks”. Well that was well over a month ago and the game histories have not been restored. I had over 3,500 games saved for research purposes that took over a year to accumulate. Many others are in the same boat and have a plethora of games lost.

Chess Cube seems to have a very large quantity of cheaters, poor sportsmanship and arrogant, mouthy children. It’s merely just a bullet chess website and not for thinking chess. The Moderators are many times teenagers, (or close to it), on power trips and ban people at the drop of a hat. It’s also not really a free website as they claim, as you have to have accumulated, “cubits”, (their online version of money), to play more than about one game per day. Of course, you can always go to the handy-dandy Chess Cube store and buy more cubits! They claim they have an e-mail function where you are able to e-mail your completed matches, but it doesn’t work and hasn’t for a long time. Ask a question in the, “Help”, room and what you get in return many times is condescending arrogance, wise-ass answers and even laughed at. What a fine way to treat a customer, not! As such, Chess Cube is dying fast with many people abandoning the site. The chat rooms are a ghost town compared to what they used to be. Good riddance.

I can advise the Internet Chess Club, http://www.ChessClub.com, http://www.KillegarChess.com or even http://www.Chess.com as much better alternatives to the mayhem that is Chess Cube.

I played there over a year ago and did not like the GUI or the personalities. There are better places to play online.j

Agreed and I suggested a few.

It would seem Chess Cube is dying fast. No big loss.
