Understood that the room block for the lead hotel is “mostly sold out,” but I was surprised that I was not able to add Sunday night to an existing room block reservation. (Most of the Open / weekend guests will be gone and how many early-arrival August business travelers will there be in Grand Rapids?)

Doesn’t make much difference to me (I’m within driving distance), but I’d imagine quite a few players have Monday a.m. flights. Would it be possible to add some Sunday rooms to the room block?

I think you need to contact the national events coordinator via email, staff don’t generally monitor the forums for questions.

I suspect the room block itself is no longer active for Sunday night. US Chess might not have been willing to commit to a certain number of rooms that night. However, one might try calling the hotel itself and asking if the group rate would be honored for Sunday.
