Any one that has the CT-ART 4.0 Question

Just got this program, and mainly use it for training, but I like to play a game against the the CT-Art 4.0, but it seems to only play black, is there a way to get it to play white?

Wanting to play chess “against CT-Art 4.0” might not be what you really want. And I doubt CT-Art supports that anyway.

There are many free chess engines available for download on the web (Bing it). However, “engine” does not necessarily include a clickable “UI” (which of course you want).

Crafty is free, but I do not know about its UI, it might expect you to own Fritz for the Fritz UI?

ARENA is free, and it includes a decent point-n-click UI.

Consider spending $15 to buy a not-the-latest version of Fritz or Shredder.

I really suggest, for playing chess, if you don’t own a chess program, is CHESSMASTER: Grandmaster. (Thats the latest incarnation btw).

You can really, and I mean really, pick a wide range off “opponents” in the program that has all levels of strength and playing styles. (If you want to be able to improve your chess anyway.)

If your just looking for a good freeware chess engine, the STOCKFISH is what you want: its good as, or possibly better than Rybka 3. They’re pretty aggressive about improving its strenght, and most expect STOCKFISH to eventually equal or surpass Rybka 4.

Thanks for your comments, and I did get the 4.0 for learning. But thought I would see how it plays, and it is so enjoyable to play against. So I put it up against my old chess challenger whic was up graded to Champion/Elite. Playing against the Chess Challenger, if you make one inferior move and you are not a expert or better, it will win. So I played the Challenger against the 4.0, that was both entertaining and tutorial. Both played equal to me, that is from my limited perspective of chess intell, but well into the middle game the 4.0 was able to set up a trap to win a minor peice, after that it was all 4.0. What I like about the 4.0, I can print with diagrams the games.

I will look into CHESSMASTER: Grandmaster, I am very old fashion if its for free, you get what you pay for?? But I will see?? Oh, I do have the Rybka Extreem $59.95 coming, this I boiught mostly for playing against. Bob
