It would be nice if someone would reply to our queries on this forum…
TIA,
We need more active members in these forums to get it going as a useful resource. It seems that ChessManiac, Steve-L and I are carrying all the weight around here…
May I respectfully suggest that should include people from USCF office too. You know, all those people who’s emails are listed in the “contact us” page of Chess Life magazine or on the uschess website? Aren’t they the experts out there?
TIA,
Hi Jorge,
I agree it would be nice if someone from the USCF office was here to answer some questions. How long has this forum been around? Maybe it’s just going to take some time before more people find their way here.
Well, it was just advertised for the first time in the current issue of Chess Life, so its not been around long. However, I helped to start a forum about 1 1/2 years ago for helping linux noobies. The success of this forum was due in part to many experts volunteering their time. That’s what we need here.
If you’re interested, go see knoppix.net/forum and see what I mean. That forum has grown a lot in the last year or so. It started like this one, but has since grown to support 100s or threads, 1000s of users and 10000s of postings. It has come to be a great searchable source of information for people starting out with linux.
Regards,
Seems that all the questions have been answered thus far. If not, repost and I will try to help. I will echo the idea that some USCF staff needs to attend to this board as well. I’m not a staff member, but will try to help.
Cheers,

OK, thanx, that’s great! In the mean time I’m telling everyone who may be of help in making this forum a useful resource about this forum.
Regards,
I just wanted to stop by and see what was new on the forum. I think it’s important to check in once in a while to see what’s happening.
I’ve gotten a bunch of private emails about USCF staff supporting this forum, as well as some expert USCF TDs coming soon to a theater near you!
Regards,
sounds good. Now if only more members would find their way here this could turn out to be a great source for sharing info.
hello, I am a new member of the federation. I don’t really know how this all works yet, but thought maybe someone could help. I would like to play in correspondence tournaments. I purchased entry into a swift quad tournament to a couple of days ago. I was wondering if anybody knew how long it took to get the pairings. Any other tips would be welcome. Hope to get to know some of you.
Thanks very much.
Paul T. Gomez
Hi Paul,
I’m not a correspondence player, and I have no idea how long it takes to receive pairings (probably not too long after they have received 4 entries), but after looking at the website I would say that you should contact cchess@uschess.org if you haven’t received your pairings within a reasonable amount of time. This is the contact email they list on their website.
Please see the website at http://www.uschess.org/cc for more information.
Maybe some of our other members could offer some insight?
Hope this helps,

Seems to me that one of the problems is that there are so many different message forums. I am not sure which one is the most used. rec.games.chess newsgroup has been around for years but the interface is not nearly as nice as this site. There is also chessninja.com and probably others, e.g., the new site by Kasparov. Too many message boards will dilute the effectiveness of all of them. But, such is the nature of the beast – everyone is putting up their own site.
