Ran into another retired local at The Grindstone Cafe, on Depot Street this afternoon. Used to be a teacher and ran a chess program at his high school for years although he’s never competed in a USCF event himself. He used to take his students to the state scholastic championships each year, usually in Burlington when he was teaching. If you’re in the area drop by and perhaps you’ll be able to pick up a game and have some good coffee. We’ll be playing tomorrow afternoon. Nice to have found yet another chess player in the area. But, beware!! Mud season has begun.
