Planning a trip to Florida and wondering about any chess clubs in the Sarasota or Boca Raton area?

From the Boca chess web site, be sure to check out the links to other clubs in the area. The Palm Beach Gardens club and Coral Springs club are both nearby, so depending on the timing, you might be able to visit one of those.

Yes, there is an active chess community in the Sarasota & Venice area.

There are generally a dozen or so players at each location with a few more during the winter months. Clocks are seldom used and the players are from around 800 to 1600 in skill level.
