I suspect this will not help Agon and FIDE’s promoting of the WC in NYC. The article also specifically states that Kirsan is subject to arrest if he sets foot in the US.

Chess lane rings a bell…It was granted the rights to commercial activity on behalf of FIDE and, IIRC, is listed as the legal promoter of the Candidates matches–not Agon. Kaplan is of course FIDE’s CEO of finance and development.

Filatov appears to claim that he is not the Filatov mentioned in the Panama Papers. Another case of mistaken identity? About 80% of the at risk youth I’ve worked with have told me they were mistaken for someone else when arrested. Such a common refrain…world-wide it appears.
