I am starting a thread in which people are welcome to report results of tournaments, large to small. Years ago, a column by the name “Chess Life Here & There”, featuring just this kind of report, was a regular feature of Chess Life magazine.
In the next message, I will try to start the ball rolling by reporting a tournament that took place in the Pittsburgh area, where I live. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the director, or the organizer, or one of the players; I wasn’t even there. I’ll just have to go on the written reports. Hope the rest of you can do better!
Event: 6th Pennsylvania State Senior Championship
Location: William Pitt Student Union, University of Pittsburgh
Organizer: Pennsylvania State Chess Federation
Tournament Director: Tom Martinak
Date: November 17-18, 2007
USCF Master Bill Hughes won this event with a score of 4-1. Tom Magar, Don Meigs, and Daniel Kirk tied for second at 3 1/2. Last year, when Hughes and Kirk were co-winners, it was something of a surprise, as Kirk was rated in Class B. With another good showing, including a win over Magar and a draw with Hughes, Kirk showed that last year’s performance was no fluke. Meigs, a former Master, won the over-65 prize.

That was concise.
Looking forward to more reports from around the country
