ChessBase features

OK, so now that I’ve downloaded ChessBase Lite, I’m discovering all the snazzy features it includes and surfing a nice little endorphin rush. But one of those features confuses me: the repertoire database. Can someone explain to me how this is meant to be used? The help file seems to explain it, but the more I read it, the more I get the sense that it’s using words to mean something other than what I think they mean.

The idea is to create lines/games to be used in your own preparation.

I never found this feature that useful, and create mini-databases for specific opening lines.

Personally, I find it awesome, now that I know what to do with it. Thanks.

It is awesome when the rep DB is “clean”. But fashions change, you change your mind, and you may find the data less relevant a year from now than today.

It’s easier to keep the mini-bases clean. Frankly, I’m not that good at doing this myself, and would appreciate hearing how others do this.

I’m not playing at a high enough level that fashion matters.
