Too often we see posts about waiting for help from office staff. It’s only fair to highlight when the staff replies to a question on the same day, and over the weekend no less.
I directed a quick tournament in which a player’s MSA indicated he was a non-member. This can happen when making an account but not paying. I explained this to the player who produced a payment reply he got from US Chess. I later forwarded the receipt to the office on Saturday and got a reply an hour later from Bryon Doyle who forced an MSA update. I could then submit the event for rating and Bob’s your uncle. Thanks to Bryon!
If I could spring board off of this, I’d like to tip a hat to Michael Buss, the Correspondence Chess Coordinator. Mike is so helpful, kind, and just an all around great fellow, as well as being great at organizing the correspondence chess events. I’ve had a few issues with other players before, and Mike was not only timely in his responses, but he was very professional and we were able to resolve the issues.
There may or may not be a few things that need changing at US Chess, but they have some really great people working there, too, like Mike.
I had the pleasure of working with a number of USCF staffers over last few years. In my experience they are all professional, courteous, knowledgeable, very thorough and always willing to go an extra mile.
Among them, Korey is the best! TLA team is very helpful too. Thank you office staff!
