I recently saw a chess board that I would really like to obtain one.
This is a standard sized (2.2 or 2.25) mouse pad chess board, but there is one difference than all the others presently available.
This one is green in color. It has the green for the dark squares AND the bordering part is also green. The letters and numbers are in white as are the light squares.
I saw one at the Peoria chess tournament this past weekend. I asked the fellow where he got it and he said he bought it from the vendor at the Chicago Open. After leaving the tournament I remembered this same fellow and chess board from a few years back. I asked him the same question with the same response coming back then. So I assume the current vendor for the Chicago Open most likely does not have this style anymore.
If anyone knows of a place where I can get such a green (both dark squares and borders) mouse pad chess board, I certainly appreciate you letting me know either here on the forum or via Private Message.
Thanks.
Styles come and go. If the style wasn’t selling enough, the manufaturer would’ve discontinued the color scheme.

Sadly true. Though I didn’t see an obvious reason why it wouldn’t have been attractive - if I had been in the market for a mousepad board (in green) I’dve bought it myself.
OK, I must have been dazed,…or dazed and confused,…or simply confused.
I just received a green border board, that Dewain calls a reverse image board, from Dewain Barber and his American Chess Equipment company. It is an analysis sized board with 1 1/2 " squares. If I could get it in 2 1/4" square size it would be PERFECT!!!
Now, my confusion and bedazzlement must have occurred because I thought it was a mousepad board that I saw. The coloring and all of the board shows it must have been a vinyl board. I believe the color of the vinyl is forest green. The white squares and lines defining the board and the algebraic notation is all printed on the green vinyl. This is why it is called a reverse image.
So, now my search is on for a reverse image, or green border vinyl board.
I do know that they are not being presently produced. However, my quest continues…
Ron, I would have sworn that the board I was looking at the Winter Tornado was a mousepad-style board. It was a lot thicker than an average “vinyl” board, and had a mousepad-style surface. (Even if ‘reversed image’ was what you were looking for…
) In fact, I remember actually thinking, “Hey! So that’s what a mousepad-style board is actually like!” Never saw one in person before, sad-but-true.
Yes, I thought that also. This analysis board surface looks identical to that one, and it is vinyl.
The “finish” of the green appears smoother and glossier than the typical cloth covering of a mousepad board.
I like the finish and look of the board so much, I would take either a mousepad board or a vinyl one like that.
By the way, I always have my House of Staunton Renegade set with a mousepad board in my car. When we are at tournament site at the same time again, I’ll make sure to show or even give you one. I have an extra one at home (the standard one with a white border).
That’s the standard color one. The one we are looking at looks like this:

This one is the analysis sized board available from Dewain Barber and his American Chess Equipment company. It doesn’t come in a larger size from anywhere like this. This one is vinyl.
Anyway, I just found a really nice leather board that looks exactly the way I want. It is:

So, I actually ordered this in green. It is from a fellow in Washington, called House of Aragon. The fellow’s name is Joel Aragon. I found him to be a nice guy when I called and then ordered, actually, two boards from him. My wife wasn’t too hard on me for that one…
