Hurricane Sandy & Bahamas International

I see that Sandy hit the Bahamas this weekend and there was a tournament there–Bahamas International. I also note there is no rating report yet for the event. I hope all is well with the organizers, TDs, and players at that venue.

The rating report is up so I will assume all is well with my chess friends that had what I know was a good time this weekend, despite Sandy.

People flying into the Northeast might find it more than a bit tricky to get home today, though. :frowning: Here’s hoping all the players get home safely.

The turnout was probably less than Bill G was expecting, 18 in the top section and 14 in the amateur. He probably got hammered on room nights.

There may well be some events in the USA affected this coming weekend by Sandy, too. The stock markets will remain closed again tomorrow.

OUCH!!! For those who have the threads, of what the organizer SHOULD do, for whatever reason,
please keep in mind that such events only exist because folks are willing to take risks.
