Jude Acers At World Seniors - Ongoing Daily Results

After beating a 1918 rated player in Round 1, in Round 2, American NM Jude Acers (2215) draws Latvian GM Evgeny Sveshnikov (2507).

In (IMHO) a very wild, exciting game throughout, Acers forced perpetual check with Q, N, 2 pawns against Q and 4 pawns with Sveshnikov threatening to queen a pawn. Acers has 1.5/2.

The 2012 World Senior Championship has 109 entrants including 12 GMs, 14 IMs, and 4 WGMs.

Only Jude Acers and Illinois Expert Leonid Bondar (2023) are representing the USA.

Good luck guys!

Levitsky’s, aka Hodgson’s aka Queen’s Bishop Attack.

After seven rounds, Jude Acers is the surprise name near the top of the leaderboard of GMs and IMs, with 5/7 and in contention for an IM-norm.

Round 6: Win vs IM Craig Pritchett
Round 7: Draw vs GM Vlastimil Jansa
Round 8 (Board 6): Plays black vs. GM Nikolai Pushkov

If he wins the tournament, it’s significantly better than an IM norm - it’s the GM title.

Jude is a unique character/player - it would be delicious irony if this is the way he secured this international title.

For an ‘ongoing daily results’ thread, this one has been rather inactive.

Sorry, was at the White House to get my Thanksgiving pardon.
