Junior Grand Prix events

I am interested once again in playing tournaments but a lot of tournaments state: “Junior Grand Prix” event. Will this exclude me because of my advanced age or is it just to encourage 21 and under players to earn points by beating more experienced players. And while I may have been playing for quite some time I am not even a 1400 player.

Any and all responses are appreciated.

Thank you.

Tieknight

Most Junior Grand Prix events are open to players over 21, but only eligible players earn JGP points in them. The point to the JGP is to encourage younger players to play in slower chess events and against players stronger than they are.
