I had the list of special referees, though I did not pre contact one. Is that the usual method, to call ahead? I did not wish to bother one unnessassarily.
I also had posted that there was a written apeals process, and I explained to the player that it was also an available option, but usually after the special referee.
I did not note to him that chapter 11 says that in blitz all TD decisions are final, as I am new and not 100% sure of myself.
Perhaps I made a mistake when I put it into the computer, I thought I chose the forfeit win option, but it is possible I made an error.
Or when uploaded, if the candidate was withdrawn, as I withdrew the forfeit candidate from the remainder of the tournament, does the uploader change it to a Bye since the withdrawn candidate never played a game, making an odd number of players and a bye each round?
No. In fact it is the usual practice not to inform players of the appeals process. Iâm just thinking that an appeal in a game that starts at 8:00 would have some Special Referees being consulted well after midnight. Just a time zone thing. Iâm very impressed.
I also agree about the Rule 11 treatment. Yes, youâre perfectly within your rights to use âBecause I said soâ ruling, but so much better if all players leave feeling heard and understand your ruling, even or especially if he doesnât like it. We have no idea how many players have left chess because of officious and/or incompetent TDs.
No, Vondra is that most unusual of things. A player who shows up on the published crosstable with no postâevent rating. Heâs listed as forfeiting the first round and then four unplayed games. The tournament lists twelve players. It would be strange for software to do that. May I ask what software you used?

WinTD will do this under some circumstances. If you do a reentry to move a player from one section to another, the original section may be U across the board on the wall chart. While it wonât submit that player with 0 games, I think it would with even a single forfeit.
WinTD keeps the Fnnn and Xmmm designation for games until you do something to change it. (GamesâClean Up Forfeits erases the connection with the opponent in the unplayed game). Thatâs done for audit trail purposes. (If someone asks, âwhy do I have a forfeit loss in R1?â, you have a record of where and whom they were supposed to have played). However
The US Chess spec doesnât include the âopponentâ on an F/X so that doesnât end up in the report and
WinTD eliminates anyone without a played game from the rating report.
