No because we’re not FIDE and there is a customer service issue in that.
But you shouldn’t get to show up late and then the coach brings in a team and thinks he ought to be able to hang around and get them all seated.
I actually had a parent who walked right past the “spectators not allowed signs” at a national and looked at me strangely when I told them, that yes, the “spectators not allowed” applied to them, and no, she was not exempt. At a TCA level event, I shall
never forget a very notable and recognizable GM and coach being escorted off the floor
by the chief floor td (not I), and uttering these immortal words “Don’t you know who
I am?” To which the chief TD replied “Yes, You are GM_____________, coach of the
___________, and specifically coaches are not allowed on the floor”.
Just to note, that yes, there are certainly some who simply know they are ordained
“special”.
