New TD/A feature - TD lists by geographical area

A new feature has been added to the TD/Affiliate Support Area, a program to generate a list of TDs in a geographical area. This was one of the most frequently requested additions to TD/A during the meetings in Dallas.

It can generate a list of all current certified TDs in a state (given a ZIP code), a list of TD who live within 150 miles of that ZIP code sorted by city (but only for TDs who have not requested that their name and address be withheld from lists provided to 3rd parties) or a list of former or inactive TDs in a state.

If the TD has provided us with public contact information, that will be included.

(To add public contact information to your USCF membership record, go to the Members Only area, secure.uschess.org/MembersOnly.)

Mike,

I’m not listed as a TD within 150 miles of my home ZIP code. Can you tell me exactly what I need to do on the Members Only page to get this fixed? Thanks.

Alex Relyea

Without checking your member record, I’m guessing you requested your name and address be excluded from all 3rd party lists.

The current wording on the ‘Change your Mailing Address’ form in the Members Only area (secure.uschess.org/MembersOnly) is:

You need to answer ‘no’.

I have suggested to the ED/Board that we add some other (intermediate) options to this rather than have just an all-encompassing yes or no choice, I have not gotten a response on that memo yet.

BTW, you can also use this form to supply the USCF with your ‘public contact’ information, it will be displayed on the TD search page (and probably in other places in the future.) This is information which could be a different mailing address, phone number or email address from the information we have on file for you. It is not subject to the USCF’s privacy policy and may be given out or published online.

I just asked several people to test a new program that will allow USCF members to review and update their ‘public contact’ information from a form that will be part of the new website. (Members will need to be logged in to the website, of course.)

Assuming no problems show up in the testing, we should have this in an appropriate place on the menu later this week.

Very nice feature, Mike! Thanks

If people want to access the page to review and update their public contact information before we get it linked into the menu, the direct URL is:

main.uschess.org/datapage/contact-update.php

You will need to be logged in to the website to use it.
