Newly Approved Electronic Scorekeeping Devices

A player had a new electronic scorekeeping device called “Plycount,” which he said was just given a letter of approval from the USCF.

It would be very helpful to players, TDs and organizers if a list of all the USCF-approved electronic scorekeeping devices could be posted and updated on the USCF website.

This came up a few weeks back, too:

I was testing that device (along with 2 others) in a tournament on 11/2. I made a point of emailing the director in advance with the url links, given that the approval was fairly recent.

uschess.org/content/view/7752/28/ there is a link to

uschess.org/docs/gov/reports … elines.pdf which lists the approvals at the bottom.

That was an interesting experience. I played on the board next to Kevin in one of the rounds. Essentially, he was putting on a simul – using all three devices at the same time, at least in that game (and probably in all four games).

So, Kevin, what’s your verdict? Which device do you prefer?

You’ll have to wait for the CL article. I’m in process of writing it now…
