He wasn’t on for much screen time. He had 9 wins and a draw in the 10-board simul (completed during the program). One win was over what sounded like Eric Moskow (currently rated about 2250), but I may have mis-heard the name. It would be interesting if somebody that taped it could get the names and ratings of the players in the simul.
Hiraku Nakamura was the last kid master on the show. Maybe Nicholas will eventually eclipse Hiraku.
The video is on YouTube and linked from the USCF homepage. Although I am a huge fan of Nicholas Nip, I think any comparisons with Hikaru Nakamura are premature. I’ve played both and lost to both. I can safely say that Nicholas is talented and has a future in chess, but being a world class Grandmaster is still far, far away.
By the way, I too would be interested in knowing the ratings of his opponents. My impression is that this was quite a difficult simul.

When I was running the April Open on April 12-13th, the Marshall Manager passed along an email the Marshall had received from Barbara DeMaro. The email asked if we could ask tournament players who might be interested in participating in this event, to contact Barbara DeMaro. The players were supposed to be adult and rated under 1400. As it turned out, almost all the players in the April Open that weekend did not fit those two criteria.
Nicholas, won 9 and had 1 draw. I am assuming some were stronger than 1400. One was a senior at West Point, and the Arm Forces C hess Champion( He lost). Very Composed young man.
