Petrie's After School Chess Challenge & Club Championship...

Greetings,

I wanted to invite any students (K-6) to participate in Petrie’s Family Games’ After School Chess Challenge.

Petrie’s is hosting 2 groups with open enrollment for any of your students interested in chess training and playing in tournaments with students from other clubs. Their groups will be held on Wednesday and Thursday and are providing the pizza simul for the winning group. You can find more details here:

cschess.webs.com/coaching.htm

The weekly lessons would cover the following topics using “Chess Camp” by Igor Sukhin (over 1800 exercises):

  1. Learning the pieces - the how and why of moving pieces and algebraic notation
  2. Mating - attacking and defending the king
  3. Material - how to assess pieces in a chess position
  4. Mobility - how to assess space in a chess position
  5. Tactics - 14 tools to gain an advantage
  6. Planning - how to assess strategy in the different phases of the game

The cost is $42 for 6 weeks and parents can register online or at each location.

I created a flyer if anyone would be willing to post or hand it out.

In addition, we are looking for another group to host on Mondays. Please have anyone (schools, boy scouts, youth groups, homeschool groups) contact me (719-233-1426) who might be interested in hosting.

Thanks for your attention,

Paul Anderson

Subject: tournament announcements

Hi, guys,

I attach tournament announcements for my two events next year at City Hall. I am sending them out this early mainly because the date for the CS Open is moved from its usual weekend to avoid a conflict with the opera that I will probably be performing in. I want people to know this change so they can arrange other events around it.

Thanks,

Buck
