Im lower rated on the internet, both in blitz and standard. I played OTB first, and as a result my internet ratings do not matter that much to me. i am not saying i will just throw games away, but i dont pay as much attention, allow myself to expiriment, etc. Also, I am better at longer time controls , and i play faster time controls on the internet. even when i play standard on the internet, it is faster than the time controls i am strongest at (G/90 with 30 sec. increment or slower).
When I play in ICC tournaments, I play better than in regular ICC games, but still not as good as in OTB tourneys. I think this is subconcious, and maybe me playing worse on the internet is partially subconcious too (it is at least partly just because I will multitask sometimes by chatting, getting on facebook, read the news, or other stuff while it is their move).
A quick look at some of my friends internet ratings shows that most of them are also higher rated OTB.
