And this from GM Alejandro Ramirez:
Hans Niemann has filed suit in court against Magnus Carlsen, Play Magnus Group, chess.com, Daniel Rensch, and Hikaru Nakamura.
Somewhat off topic, but apparently there’s been a cheating scandal in cornhole, the game where you throw a beanbag 27 feet into a hole in a board. (Who knew this was something people could make money doing?)
Apparently teams are using bags that aren’t regulation sized.
BTW, the story in the Wall Street Journal says the American Cornhole League has 155,000 members, but doesn’t say how many of them are at the three paid levels (which run from $10 to $100 for a calendar year.)
Perhaps U.S. Chess could immediately declare all Cornhole members to also be non-paying U.S. Chess members. That would enhance our membership stats significantly.

Membership continues to rebound, we’re over 89,000 as of the end of October, up several thousand from the end of September.
We just need to figure out how to have cornhole libations without youth issues…
Not any more-in terms of lack of interest. CBSsports has a feature story about this controversy. FINALLY, chess gets its Rightful Place-hey we have been recognized by one of the leading "sports" authorities in the world as a SPORT. Amern!!! Now the FORMER world champion, the extremely unsportsmanlike trash-talking Magnus Carlsen continues his 100% slanderous campaign to defame Hans Niemann for cheating of which there is absolutely zero evidence to support in OTB play. One of the "indications" according to Carlsen of Niemann's cheating is his "unusual" rise from around 2500 in Jan, 2020 to an elite "superstar" 2750 GM today. Few if
anyone else in world chess history have had this incredible rise.
As Carlsen is refusing to play Niemann in any events, in events in which Niemann chooses to participate,
I hope Carlsen is not invited. Unsportsmanlike behavior and unsupported slanderous accusations cannot be supported.
This is getting out of hand at this point. Neither Magnus nor Niemann. Fide needs to make a decision soon to end this controversy. Also, Niemann is in the wrong with his lawsuit and wasting the courts’ time in Missouri. It is doubtful that Magnus has assets in the states, so even if Niemann wins the case, he won’t be able to collect on Magnus. I am sick of hearing about this, and the world needs to move on so we can watch the world champions match and the future of chess.
I’m not sure this is entirely FIDE’s problem to solve.
Fide just released this fide.com/news/2249. This will never be resolved in a timely fashion.
What’s the hurry in solving it? (Thought that assumes that a solution is possible, that the parties involved would accept it and that FIDE really wants one.)
I say that this issue will remain unresolved and fide will not take action against either player unless some major piece of evidence turns up.

I think it is a no win situation for FIDE. I suspect you are 100% correct in your assessment
