Find a good local chess club with social players. Share ideas - maybe they will have some instruction available. Have fun.
Set goals - not necessarily ones you’ll reach but ones you can aim for. The real reason I do this (and haven’t for awhile and now that I’m coming back after a heart attack need to again…) is to recognize what you’re looking to get out of chess. What does success mean to you, so you derive maximum enjoyment or utility from coming back… and may give shape to how you want/need to prepare.
If there is an unrated tournament in your area, try it. Expect to lose the first three or four events, but record the moves and learn from each one.
Play some 3|0 and 5|0 blitz on chess.com to get the rust off
