time delay questions

I understand the USCF rules for time delay. My questions concern some math.

Question #1: are my mathematics correct as follows …For example, at a time control of G/75, 70 min and 5 sec delay is used. You deducted 5 min from the main time control. A 5 sec delay on a move means 1 min total delay in 12 moves. After 60 moves by each player they will have each taken 75 minutes each in “real” time ( for this calculation neglect the complication of each player moving quickly near the end of the sudden death time control)

Question #2: Why is the time delay for quick chess 3 sec rather than the standard 5 sec for longer time controls?

Thanks
Dave

Yes, a delay of 5 seconds per move adds up to 5 minutes for a 60-move game – if both players use their full 5 seconds on each move.

Because it’s quick. Both the time controls and the delay time are (typically) shorter in quick than in regular.
