I am an unrated player who wants to play in a class tournament next week. Will the TD allow me to enter any class? I played in USCF rated events in the late 1970s, but I only earned a provision rating for which I have no records
Not all organizers follow the same procedures with regards to unrated players, you will need to contact the organizer of the event you’re considering playing in to find out their policy.
If you played enough games to have a published rating (4 or more games), the USCF office should have a record of that.
Contact the ratings department (clovingood@uschess.org) with your name, your address at the time and your USCF ID (from back then) if you know it, they can research it and update the USCF website with that information.
I don’t know if they can get that done between now and when the office closes at 5PM central time, though.
