USCF Moderator Guidelines 11/3/2014

The following guidelines for USCF forum moderators were approved by the USCF Executive Board on 11/3/2014:

As a moderator for the USCF Forums you are expected to promote a friendly environment where members can freely exchange ideas in a non-offensive manner. The goal of the Forums is to advance and benefit the game of chess. Moderators both enforce and follow the general rules for the Forums.

The following list of guidelines is not intended to be comprehensive. Use your best judgment at all times. Your behavior in the Forums should model desired behavior for all Forums users.

[]Help other members by offering knowledge that you have. Provide sources or links when necessary.[/]
[]Conduct yourself on the USCF and other forums (if under the same username, or if using your real name) in a way that positively represents the Forums and USCF – no offensive behavior or arguments.[/]
[]Refrain from posting controversial opinions on USCF-related issues or threads.[/]
[]Treat all members with respect. As a moderator of the USCF Forums, you should exercise restraint when responding to an infraction. Keep your personal opinions regarding members and issues to yourself. The responsibility of being a Forums moderator includes acting in a manner that is unbiased and level-headed.[/]
[]Learn and be familiar with the Acceptable Usage Guidelines. Moderation actions should only be taken in response to an infraction of these rules.[/]
[]Keep all information in the moderator forums and sub-forums CONFIDENTIAL and do not share with other members or non-members.[/]
[]Do not block or filter communication from any Forums user.[/]
