It may be easier, maybe not. Maybe the data is on different servers, with different rights, etc. But addressing any of these ideas requires examining a combination of priority and resource. I do think addressing Quick system issues is more urgent and likely more important. But I also note that (as has been pointed out many times) not all perceived Quick system issues are in fact documented Quick system issues - it simply isn’t clear at this point how big the problem is - and we should understand that before “fixing” it. So that is of a higher priority and urgency than any Quick system “fix”.
That said, USCF is fundamentally a community, and we can and should do more to support its status as a community which should in turn support an increase in membership. To that end, simple ideas like being able to click from the forums to MSA are useful, and serve a purpose somewhat beyond one person’s idle curiosity.
I did something similar and also added an MSA link in my signature (pulled in automatically to all posts, even old posts made prior to setting up the signature).
EDIT:
Go into User Control Panel (right under forum index)
Hit the Profile tab at top (next to the normally highlighted overview tab)
Hit the Edit signature option (right under the normally highlighted Edit profile option)
Add your text block (you can copy mine and just change the ID number), at least as long as MSA isn’t changed in a way that will cause that to fail.
I originally pulled up that link by going into:
USCF home
Players and Ratings
Player/Rating lookup (old format - though it was the only format when I did it)
Type in the ID number
RIGHT-CLICK on the name and select the option to open in a new tab (or new window)
Go to the url at the top of the page, highlight it and hold down the control key while hitting the C key (Control-C)
You than have it in your paste buffer for any Control-V pasting you want to do
I’m pretty sure I’d never consider relocating to Manhattan’s Upper East Side to be moving up in the world. I like having a real lawn to mow, taking a trip to the wood pile for the fireplace, and having the Bentleys live about a half-mile away.
