2010 US Jr. Chess Congress

This year the US Jr. Chess Congress is to be held at the Radisson Hotel at the Indianapolis International Airport. This is a location change from the previous 4 years which had been held at a large Middle School in Anderson, IN.

I visited the hotel today and it is a huge improvement over the school. Kudos to organizer, Scott Reisinger, for obtaining the hotel with the extremely affordable chess rate of $70! It is very difficult to find a national junior chess event with rooms this affordable. (I am posting this as a heads up so you chess parents can act and not miss out on this great room rate. )

Those considering flying to the event will be happy to know that the Radisson has free 24/7 shuttle service to the airport. The commuters, like me, will be happy to know that there is plenty of free parking.

Visit http://www.2010chesscongress.com/ for tournament registration and details.

I recall a scholastic committee meeting a few years back where there was talk about studying this championship and perhaps changing it to something else glad it hasn’t been pushed. At the minimum those scholastic chess-players residing in a north-central state has a chance to compete in some national level scholastic tournament where as commuting to one of the later Spring ones would be fiscally impossible. That organizer should be in the pool of candidates for Organizer of the Year for obtaining that hotel rate.

That is an awesome rate. Anyone who knows the webmaster for the site might let them know the advance entry pages were loaded as .txt files instead of .html files. Need to be saved as html and reuploaded.

Terry,

Thanks for the heads up on the txt files. Sorry about that, I will get it fixed when I update.

And good news… The hotel is making the room rate $65. Long story on that Terry, I will explain later. Just a better deal all around for us and the participants.
