Hi Everyone,
I’m new here and was wondering… is there a specific font I should download to submit an article?
I don’t know how to “set up a board” to show the pieces in a certain way. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Mike

There ares several type 1 chess fonts (and at least one Truetype chess font, as I recall), but a better way to do it is to use of the tools on the Internet to generate chess diagrams as graphics that you can insert into an article. I would suggest if you have an idea for a story for Chess Life that you contact the Publications Director, Dan Lucas, his email is dlucas@uschess.org.
Thank you Nolan. I took your advice and googled chess diagrams and found one at apronus.com, and that worked well for what I needed.
I used the Chess Case font when creating a lesson plan for a camp a few years ago and used this to convert a WinBoard PGN/FEN position to that diagram via the clipboard.
Until I can get my website finished, my diagram page is now here. This is an orphaned page and links to other parts of the site will not work.
If you are looking for fonts for Word documents, check out the Alpine fonts - Hastings, Linares, and Zurich at partae.com/fonts/general/general.html
For games and diagrams online, there are several options and this has been discussed in prior threads (try searching the forums). Among them are KnightVision chess at il-chess.org/brocks-blog-144.
ChessBase also provides tools for website publishing and for article writing. Perhaps this can also be done with other databases, such as Hiarcs Explorer.
