I am looking to upgrade my handheld computing options.
I have used the Palm Pilot systems for 10 years now and my current T3 is getting old and replaceable.
I use this for business (eye doctoring) and also like the option of having a chess playing game on it.
A friend of mine who is an ophthalmologist is pushing me to get an IPod Touch. There is a good downloadable pharmaceutical program for drug references that I certainly could use. It also has the calendar and address book functions that I also use extensively.
So, the question is does anyone know offhand if there is a good chess playing program for the IPod Touch?
This is Shredder. An excellent program on Windows but the average reviewer didn’t think much about it in this version for iPod. I believe you can download an evaluation version so you can check it out here.
I recently got an iPhone and have been looking around for chess apps. There are a few at the Apple App Store, but they do not look impressive.
What I would really like to see is a chess scorecard program, like the Monroi PCM software. Alas, I can find nothing. I contacted the author of eNotate, a Windows ME program for PocketPCs, to encourage him to port it to the iPhone. He is reluctant because the USCF will not certify anything on a phone PDA. Since the iPod Touch is not a phone, maybe he would port it for that device. You can contact him by email to “info” at the North American Chess Association.
If you find something good for the iPod Touch, please post the info here.
