i became a member in december and i still haven’t gotten an issue yet

is there someone here that could look into for me if I gave them my membership info?

It very often takes 3-4 weeks for the office to mail out the magazine for new and lapsed renewing members. Given the shortage in staff and the increase in duties, it may take even longer.

  1. Have you checked the MSA to see if your membership has been processed?

  2. The January issue was mailed around the last week of December. Since the USCF has to prepare the mailing list and send it to the CL printer, unless you joined on line with a credit card it is unlikely that a membership sold in December would make the print run. The February issue is being mailed about now (and will take a couple of weeks to arrive most places).

Shep, this is not an appropriate forum to be discussing individual membership issues. If the paragraphs below don’t answer your question, please e-mail me at mnolan@uschess.org with your name, address and USCF ID and I can look up to see when your membership was processed, what membership type it is, what label sets you have been part of and what address we have for you.

We have to send the labels to the printer by the 15th of the month and usually try to do it ahead of them. The labels for the January issue were prepared on December 10th. If you missed that deadline you would be included in the supplemental run, which was created on January 13th. I don’t know exactly when it was processed, but I would assume those copies should be arriving this week in most parts of the country.

Assuming your membership was processed in December, you would have been on the main mailing for the February issue, also created on Jan 13th. Assuming everything is on schedule those copies should be in the mail.

They’re mailed from Minnesota, I usually get my copy in Nebraska around the 1st of the month.

For those who join after the 10th of the month (more or less) it usually takes until around the end of the next month for their first two issues to arrive. Sometimes they arrive on the same day.
