I had a quick question:

I’m 20 years old, live in NY, I love chess, but I stink and would like to improve.

Do you think I can find an affordable chess teacher in the area whilst still having at least a little money in my pockets?

Perhaps you could post to Joe Lux, I believe he does some coaching, but even if not I am sure he could point you in the right direction. Go to the USCF Issues Forum and PM Joe Lux. Hope he can help.
