I read somewhere on this forum that Excalibur isn’t making a kind of clock anymore because they went out of business.
Is that true?
So I checked on the website excaliburelectronics.com and it was still running fine.
Hopefully they didn’t go out of business because the chess products they make are awesome.
Because I own the Excalibur Grandmaster, the only electronic chess set with a real tournament sized board.
My understanding was that a German business bought them out (or their intellectual property). I’ve heard that to place an order of the clocks for a distributor / reseller, you have to make a bulk purchase of 2-3000 clocks.
Here’s a chance for someone to corner the market…
Yeah, the previous owner sold the business. I believe the rook shaped building in Florida is closed, and the museum stuff was going to be moved to a new museum location. I seem to recall the St. Louis club being involved in the museum part, but I could be mistaken.

Since the museum is closing, I wonder if they will be auctioning off the stuff that was previously inside. To make money, they could auction off Morphy’s silver chess set. Did they have an auction of the museum’s stuff?
The museum pieces did not belong to Excalibur, they will be moved to the new museum site when it is opened.
