Hey Anybody/Everybody –
I’m looking for any info for availability on the Chronos Digital Game Clock II - Touch. I’d like to have this full-size version (not the “GX,” “FX,” or "Blitz), and preferably in Black (rather than that '70s-era “cream/off-white”). So far, EVERYBODY seems to be out of stock on it.
I know that there are some known software issues regarding 3 of the user-defined modes that Chronos is trying to correct. That said, this still leads to a variety of questions:
1) Have they shut down production of it ENTIRELY while they resolve this problem?
2) Is every online retailer simply sold out due to the holiday season?
3) Have they discontinued this model altogether?
Simply put, “user-defined modes 9-12 not working” wouldn’t keep me from buying one as long as the first 8 modes DID work (that’s plenty). I still want one of these clocks.
Sooooo…does anybody know anything?
Thanks,
ColumbusMark
I can’t find it online either. Wholesalechess.com are usually really good (and probably about the cheapest) but it’s out of stock there. Maybe try Chess Palace? Their website is terrible (no offense intended to anybody) with links going to the wrong pages (and some not working at all), so your best bet would be to call them. Despite their website, they are very reputable and I wouldn’t have any issues buying from them personally (and I have bought several items from them at tournaments in southern CA). They aren’t cheap, however… expect to pay about $20 more for your Chronos there than you would at Wholesalechess.com.
That’s the only place I can think of. I tried the Chess Store, Amazon, eBay… which I’m sure you did too. No luck with any of them.
Chess Palace’s phone numbers are, according to their website, 310-594-3475 or 949-307-2618.
I just called one of the 3 places I normally get my chess clocks from, The Chess House.
They said that the Chronos II Touch in Black is back ordered until February.
I actually bought one a month or two ago and it did have the software flaw for the user saved settings that you mentioned. I returned it. I did get lucky a few weeks later Raphael at the Chess House had one without any flaws that I bought. It’s nice.
