Allow me to ask what I am sure is a very simple question that I have not been able to find an answer to by searching the forums or on the main USCF website: How are Grand Prix points earned/awarded?
You play in a Grand Prix tournament (listed in Chess Life) and finish at the top. The number and distribution of points depends on the prize fund. There is usually a chart in the TLA section.
The Grand Prix rules are published in Chess Life, I think that is currently in every other month. They are also available at main.uschess.org/go/tlainfo
There is a schedule based on the size of the event showing the number of points for first place, second place, etc. In the event of ties, the points are shared, ie, if two people tie for first place they split the 1st and 2nd place Grand Prix points.
