Just watched the Garbus film. Excellent. Don’t miss it. It even has appearances by Sam Sloan and she whose name we dare not speak.
The last part of the film covering Fischer’s stay and death in Iceland is very sad; painful to see him and listen to him. He was clearly very ill mentally and in serious physical decline for a man of his age.
Overall, this is documentary film making at its very best
You did not list I.M.Anthony Saidy.
I did not mention quite a few people who appear. Shelby Lyman looks very different from PBS in 1972.
I just watched this documentary and throught it was a great insite of Fischer. Showed the rise & fall of a great player of all time. What funny is how chess did not have that many meets. US chess champ and World Champ almost think chess was more work to become Grand Master or World Champ then our modern age now. I forgot where i heard this, but one GM was asked if chess today was spoiled by computers and his answer was "Yes’. Seem like there are so many GM is very hard to watch just one like it was back in the 50-60s. I have that book “Bobby Fischer Teaches chess” and hold on to it like a keep sake.
