Google AlphaZero -vs- Stockfish

It’s been some time since those games were played. Just curious if anybody has taken a serious look at them. With millions of engine-to-engine games that have been played over the years, I have no doubt that some new chess theory has been born out of all that.

I’m curious if AlphaZero managed to add anything to that, or it just outplayed Stockfish after the opening and early middle game, and instead just used common opening lines that have been used for many, many years by human grandmasters.

I’m curious because, at least years ago anyway, it was common for programmers to use a small but highly optimized opening book for matches, especially if it was competing in a major engine-to-engine tournament.

I wonder if AlphaZero chose to use a small number of openings, using only lines with the max probability of winning.

EDIT: I found an article on chessbase.com that does a pretty good job of how AlphaZero played the openings.
