Received my Valentine’s Day gift to myself early from House of Staunton. They are the Margate 1923 chessmen in boxwood and ebonized box wood. I purchased this set about five years ago in golden rosewood. Perhaps it’s my aging eyes, but I prefer the higher contrast of the black pieces against the dark mahogany squares. I’m coveting the set in Blood Rosewood as a birthday or Christmas gift a moi. The photos here are the of set that arrived today…
Question: Does anyone know of a history in book or other written form of the Margate Chess Club? Thanks in advance
