Just the Rules regarding the 2021-2022 rulebook changes

The Just the Rules column for October 2021 regarding rulebook changes is now available:

And a list of the available free rulebook downloads (and a list of the updates) can be found at: https://new.uschess.org/news/7th-edition-rule-book-free-chapters-updated-20212022

I noticed the wording of some of the new TD Tips listed here, new.uschess.org/sites/default/f … -23-21.pdf.

I just noticed that one of those documents gave me fits when I was formatting it and then create a PDF file. I pointed out the format PDF errors to the powers that be and my inability to fix them. I got the impression at their end that the document was massaged again to create some kind of web coded post-able document. Now to my way of thinking that should not have made any difference between the two documents.

There is also the possibility that I wrote the “Just the Rules” column, and other related rulebook documents, using copy-paste from a master document. Then I went and changed the master document wording and forgot to change it elsewhere.

And realistically the concepts are the same, it is just the wording that seems a bit different. I will need to put this in my file of things to fix next time around.
