Hi !
I couldn’t find the answer to this in CL or on the website ?! I seem to remember that there was a 4 rd. minimum. The reason I ask is that I’m thinking about running a 1 day GP with 3 rds. & slower time controls, as opposed to 4 & much faster time controls. Thanks !

I don’t see any restrictions on the number of rounds, either.
There probably should be a minimum, that’s something the Board may want to review.
While most Grand Prix events are between four and six rounds long, there has been one 3-round Grand Prix event so far in 2007 and there were three of them in 2006.
Thanks for your reply ! I guess since there is no hard and fast rule against it, I will go ahead with the 3 rd. event. We have alot of guys out here in CT, including myself, who really detest "Game in " time controls. Also I would think that the GP is really about the money available to masters, so as long as that’s being paid out, the number of games in an event should not seem to make a difference.

I passed this issue along to Bill Hall and Bill Goichberg. Bill G. seems to agree that there should be a minimum number of rounds in a Grand Prix event to prevent blatant abuse, 3 is probably a reasonable minimum.
I would expect the ED or Board to make some kind of change to the rules as a result.
