My understanding is the National Chess Day is the 2nd Saturday in October, which would make it the 14th in 2017. Joan’s understanding is the same.
I think the office is getting started on sending a notice to TDs and organizers about NCD-branded events.
International Chess Day is 7/20 or 20/7
