National Chess Day you knuckleheads I mean it 
Thanks for the reminder about National Chess Day, this coming Saturday. There are 47 events that qualified as NCD events this year, which means they do not pay a ratings fee. I think that’s an all-time high. You should be able to find all of these events by looking for their TLA in Chess Life or online.
If it hasn’t gone out yet, the office should be sending the affiliate (and contact person for the event, if one was listed) information soon via email about how to get the ratings fee waiver when submitting the event online.
For those who like to plan REALLY ahead, next year National Chess Day (the 2nd Saturday in October) will be October 13th, 2018. Perhaps the Executive Board will consider the suggestion made in another recent thread that in 2018 NCD events waive the membership requirement.
