I am planning on running my first tournament this weekend. There may be some new kids playing who are not currently a member of the USCF. Can I allow them to plau and then on Monday send in the infromation and fees for their membership? or do they have to already have their memberships?
most of the kids that are registered are currently USCF members.
What I would do is print out one copy of the description and also follow the link to the family membership description and print that out.
Then I would cut and paste the data part of the form and print out a bunch of those.
It also makes things easier if the USCF memberships can be paid to you and then you enter them online through your affiliate or your online TD.
Then what you do is enter the memberships online and it checks for problems. Then when it is all good you pay online and very soon you get an email with all the new and renewed ID numbers.
Then you put those in your pairing program and export the USCF report etc etc.
You’ll need to get the membership information taken care of before you send in the rating report (unless you request exceptions). Generally it’s very quick and relatively painless to collect their dues, let them play, and handle the paperwork the following day.
If you have Internet access from the tournament site, you can process memberships and even do a preliminary validation check on the rating report while the event is still in progress.
And if you have a printer, you can print out temporary membership cards for any new or renewing members and give them out during the tournament.
