New Rating System + Global Chess Incentive

The bigger the elo rating gap between players the less reason there is for the higher rated to battle the lower rated.

Therefore I propose a game winner receive X rating points and a loser lose X rating points. For draws between equally rated players there would be no change. For draws with unequally rated players the lower rated player would receive X/2 rating points and the higher rated player would lose X/2 rating points.

I propose that X=10 Just feels right to me :smiling_imp:

To incentivise global chess play I think a spot in the candidates tourney should be awarded to the player that plays the most games during the year before the tourney and the player that wins the most game during that time.

The player(s) can be any gender. They can play a maximum of 2 games of opposing colors with any opposing player.
Federation membership is not required. All games regardless of the (non)federation membership of the players must be recorded on paper or print out and signed by both players. Also the paper or print out should have ā€œGlobal Chess Incentiveā€ clearly shown near the top of the form.

So may it be posted. So may it be done :smiling_imp:

Iā€™d say the closest one would ever get to having a global rating system, per se, is just using the various chess servers and see how a person ranks on one of those. Online chess is as good of a system to at least get an idea of a personā€™s playing strength because online chess doesnā€™t have to deal with cultural differences in running OTB tournaments.

FIDE vs USCF rating systems have been compared over the years, and itā€™s not possible to converge those two systems, let alone the entire world.

FIDE and US Chess ratings serve two different populations of chess players, though with some overlap, and these populations have different needs, thereā€™s no compelling reason to converge them. ,
