Any USCF higher ups know anything about the North American Youth 2009 yet? Fide site says held in Mexico, dates to be announced. Last time it was held in Aguascalientes Mexico a few years ago, they announced the October or November tournament in July I think. This was a really fun tournament, would like to see it happen again.

FIDE seems to be creating events willy-nilly these days.
Want to hold the World Left-Handed Teenager Chess Championships? FIDE might sanction it, for the proper fee, of course.
I don’t know if anyone has bid on the North American Youth or if they have awarded it.
FIDE also has a history of not giving a lot of advance notice on some of these events, or moving them after they’ve been awarded.
You can always send an email to the Mexican Chess Federation to ask them. Or you could send an email to the Zonal President. Or you could send an email to the FIDE office.
