October FIDE ratings

I was browsing the FIDE website today and came upon the list of USA tournaments registered for the October rating list. To my surprise, the National Open is not listed–a bit of a shock since the Las Vegas Masters held a few days prior has already been rated. I hope it didn’t fall through the cracks. Hopefully the U.S. Open will make it as well.

According to the records we have (which are also posted on the Ratings page of the website, uschess.org/ratings), the National Open rating report was sent to the FIDE office on July 14th.

I’ll drop a note to the office to have them check to see what happened to that report. I know just ahead of one of the earlier cutoffs this year the FIDE site was not showing well over a dozen events that had been emailed to them by the USCF office as having been received.

The FIDE Congress in Turin approved a new format for electronic reporting of events to FIDE, and member federations are required to start using it by January 1, 2007. That’s on the development schedule for this fall.
