Time control is G/7 d/3, but no matter what permutation I used to enter the time control in the online TLA form, the tournament came back as “regular rated only”. Obviously, it should be quick rated only. While I asked on the form and asked again after approval for the office to correct or override if possible, I want to correct myself if I can.
How should I enter the time control to get the proper rating designation to display?
And by the way–if you’re in or near the District next Tuesday night, I’d really appreciate you playing in this event and helping me qualify to take the ANTD exam. If you’re 1800 or above, you can’t beat the price.
Thank you for the feedback on both counts, Jeff. G/7 and GAME/7 didn’t work either (unless I fat fingered both when I tried them).
I thought about the section vs. two tournaments situation, but couldn’t think of how else to describe the seeding within the confines of the online TLA tool. If the event occurs as envisioned, it will be asserted that two quick rated Category R events have occurred.
And if I only make one section, I’m going to try again on the evening of the 29th.
The Online TLA program probably does not understand about delay or increment.
There are no current plans to modify the Online TLA programming. Any modifications should go well beyond just the time control stuff. Bill Hall was given a recommendation weeks ago to phase out the current Online TLA programming for events that begin after May 31, 2012, which would give the USCF time to come up with a better replacement, but has not yet responded to that recommendation.
Thanks for the response, Mike. I think a clear on-site announcement that the events are quick rated will suffice to remedy (other publicity via email and at site has made and will make this clear).
Everyone have a good weekend, then come to the Eastern Open!
