Players Below Prize Range

I know it is rare to happen, but can you recall tournaments where there were place and class prizes, but the top few [2-5] players were all qualified for the class prizes?? An example would be an event with 1st & 2nd, Top U2200, Top U2000, etc. with only 2 players rated over 2000. I do know of an event to be held in a couple of weeks with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, as well as 1st-2nd U2150 that currently has no players over 2000 entered.

Yes. Sometimes they become place prizes.

A 600 player can win an U/2150 prize.

That’s the major difference between them and true ‘class’ prizes, like top Expert, top A player, etc.
