I’m trying to track down the source of a quote, and having no luck. It’s something like, “I spent the first part of my chess life learning the rules, then spent the next part learning when to break the rules.” I am not sure, but I think it is by IM John Watson, possibly from his “Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy”, which I don’t have. Can anyone find the exact quote?
